Wow, what a day!
We could not get over the fabulous views on our way to/from John o Groats today!
We quite fancy a crofter's cottage at the moment (maybe)
We stopped at Helmsdale for our 'coffee break' and chatted with a lovely local girl, Rosemary, who has also lived in Glasgow and Orkney. She told us of 'granny Vera' , another local lady, who has done THE WALK... We also fell in love with a cottage on the quayside (lottery win required!)
We had coffee and toasted teacakes at the Belgrave Hotel, very friendly and informative...
At John o Groats we spoke to a gentleman who was associated with Macmillan Cancer charity and was waiting for Frank Whittaker who left Land's End on the 1st April this year - he was due there within the hour...
After that we had our 'official' picture with Fifi at the sign post we had our journey log signed and met another gentleman who had just finished his walk , I must say he looked really well on the experience! His wife had been driving their campervan to accompany him and he had taken 10 weeks!
Well done to all who make it on foot!!!!!!
Fifi is still doing 50 mpg (thank goodness)
Tomorrow - Dundee, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh...
More on the weekend when we are due to be in Berwick on Tweed
