Day 11

We have now visited all 12 Maggies Cancer Caring Centre Sites as well as Land's End and John o Groats and are able to enjoy our coastal route from Hayle back to Swansea. As we left our last Travelodge of the trip ('Hi' to Tim on Reception) we met Caroline and would like to give her and her family our very best wishes...

Newquay was always on our list of places to visit and we were not disappointed. I found a parking space opposite the Red Lion overlooking the harbour! Across the road was the White Water Cafe, Tower Road, where we had an excellent breakfast (best toast I have tasted in ages!). The food was cooked by Adam and served by Tammy - thanks for that... we also had a quick chat with a number of surfers outside before setting off again. We were able to see much of the coastline on our way north and our next stop was Bude - our last fix of Cornwall - that was where we picked up a piece of Cornish Rock for Val back in Swansea. I am sure she will appreciate the idea.

Having visited North Devon on many occassions I then made a detour to Instow - one of my favourite places - on our way towards Barnstable and again managed to find a parking spot for (yet another) photo opportunity - beautiful!

The Stag's Head at Filleigh was our final overnight before returning to Swansea and Maggie's South West Wales. This was my particular treat as I was able to meet up with my good friend from college days, Jeannette, who was able to join us for an great evening meal at the Stag's Head. Hello to John, Sue and Sally also Lyne, Katie, Hannah and Jeannette. In the morning our breakfast was provided by Sally, thank you, and we chatted with Malcolm and Joe who were off to play golf!

Last night away from home.....
